The new Joseph Abboud men’s store was among the winners of Visual Merchandising Store Design magazine’s 2015 Excellence in Visual Merchandising and Design awards.
The awards for the best in New York retail were handed out at an event on Wednesday night.
In addition to the Abboud unit, which was honored for its newly opened flagship on Madison Avenue, VMSD selected Valentino’s Fifth Avenue flagship and Urban Outfitters’ Herald Square store. The shops were chosen for their excellence in visual merchandising and design techniques.
“From my first retail job at Louis of Boston, the window presentations have always been my way of giving a sneak preview of what was to come on the inside,” Abboud said. “It’s a way of telling a story that is both inspiring and informational, and if you do it right, it’s magic. The entire team at our new Joseph Abboud flagship store on Madison Avenue and 49th Street is honored to receive Visual Merchandising Store Design magazine’s Best Visual Merchandising award. It’s very special to be recognized in this competitive and creative retail environment that is New York City, and, in my opinion, it truly is the fashion capital of the world.”
Past winners have included Godiva’s Fifth Avenue flagship, Ralph Lauren’s Fifth Avenue flagship and Free People’s Rockefeller Center location.
