NEW YORK — A furious Nor’easter may have flooded New York City on Tuesday, but it didn’t throw a damper on the plans of the Royals, who continued to trudge through downpours and high wind gusts to fulfill all their pre-arranged visits during their whirlwind tour of the Big Apple.
The first stop Tuesday morning was a tour of the 9/11 Memorial where Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, otherwise known as Kate Middleton, joined her husband Prince William at the site for a moment of reflection. Dressed in a fuschia Mulberry double-breasted wool cashmere coat with black buttons, high black heels and her dark hair pulled back, she and the Prince, in a single-breasted navy suit, stopped for a moment of reflection before laying a bouquet of flowers on the parapets surrounding the Reflection Pools outside the museum’s entrance. Then with a subtle wave to the group of photographers, the couple walked inside to tour the memorial.

After a short visit, the couple separated, with the Duchess visiting The Door, a youth organization that works with the CityKids Foundation to promote youth development and social learning. Before the Duchess’ arrival, the teens inside the building were all spotted peering out the windows for a glimpse of the Royal couple. The Duchess’ visit was to include a tour and an arts performance.
