LOS ANGELES — Kaviar and Kind is ending its run after four years as an influential Los Angeles jewelry player.
Katherine Azarmi Rose and Sunrise Ruffalo, co-founders and co-owners of the store on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, are ending their business relationship. Azarmi Rose will keep the 700-square-foot location and convert Kaviar and Kind to a new concept called Roseark, a lifestyle boutique emphasizing jewelry.
“Our families grew and we are going off to do our own thing,” Azarmi Rose said. “There is a lot of love there and we obviously had the store for a long time, [but] we are going different ways.”
Ruffalo, who could not be reached for comment, and Rose met in acting class in the late Nineties and combined the names of their businesses — Azarmi Rose’s Kaviar jewelry line and Ruffalo’s furniture company Kind Décor — to make Kaviar and Kind.

Celebrities, stylists and editors turned to Kaviar and Kind for novelty standout pieces. Azarmi Rose and Ruffalo had a knack for identifying jewelry’s rising stars, including Jennifer Meyer, Jennifer Herwitt and Pade Vavra, and introducing designers from abroad, such as Solange Azagury-Partridge and Alexandra Jefford, to West Coast audiences.
“We always marched to the beat of our own drum,” Azarmi Rose said.
She pointed to Elyse Jacob, Christine Greene, Louise Lanzi, Borgioni and Nam Cho as some of the recent top lines that will continue to be stocked at Roseark. Jewelry at Kaviar and Kind ranged from less than $100 to around $100,000.
Kaviar and Kind’s reach into the entertainment industry was extensive. Demi Moore, Mischa Barton, Amanda Peet, Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan wore merchandise from the store. Ruffalo is the wife of actor Mark Ruffalo, and Azarmi Rose is married to Rick Rose, who has directed, written, produced and acted in films.
After Roseark in Los Angeles is operational, Azarmi Rose’s goal is to branch out to New York.
She described Roseark as leaning slightly more toward the lifestyle boutique concept, with a focus on jewelry. She will augment the selection with fine art, one-of-a-kind clothing, spiritual artifacts and first-edition books.
“I have always been a little bit unconventional in the ways I bring in new designers and people that are undiscovered,” she said. “Those are the people that I will continue to bring in.”
Azarmi Rose has spotted 20 jewelry designers that she is introducing to Roseark, including Lucia Antonelli, Jenna Grosfeld, Brooke Stone and Unhada. Azarmi Rose’s own line, previously titled Kaviar and known for its snake and manta ray pieces, will carry her name, and feature wood, enamel and feather elements in the latest collection.
The Kaviar and Kind sign is scheduled to come down next month, when the transition to Roseark will begin.
