LAGERFELD GOES GLAM: The hype surrounding Karl Lagerfeld’s new capsule collection for Macy’s fell a bit flat in the Midwest on Friday after the line made its runway debut during the department store’s annual Glamorama fashion-show-meets-concert in Minneapolis. Attendees were more impressed with the other collections shown that night by Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, Tracy Reese and Sonia Rykiel — although those are designer lines and far from the masstige Lagerfeld brings. The 45-piece collection hits 235 Macy’s Impulse departments nationwide and macys.com on Aug. 31 with prices starting at $49 for graphic T-shirts and scarves, and topping out at $169 for a knee-length tweed coat. The silhouettes are streamlined, while the color palette is mainly shades of black and white, with some pink and red thrown in for good measure.

Grammy Award winner Bruno Mars got the biggest reaction of the night with hit songs like “Grenade” and “Just the Way You Are.” Far East Movement also performed.
Glamorama, which benefits Children’s Cancer Research Fund, will also make pit stops in Chicago on Aug. 12, Los Angeles on Sept. 23 and San Francisco on Sept. 30.
G12 IN PACSUN STAKE: Greek Investments’ restructuring on July 27 resulted in the distribution of its Pacific Sunwear shares to G12, according to a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. The filing, a Form 13D amendment, said G12 now owns nearly 20.2 million shares of Pacific Sunwear, or a 30.4 percent stake in the specialty retailer. G12 is an entity indirectly owned by Nisos Trust through Eleonas, an intermediate holding company. The filing also said the shares were acquired for investment purposes, and that no additional shares were acquired in connection with the restructuring. The filing said G12 and entities connected with it reserved the right to change their investment intent, whether to acquire additional shares or dispose of any part or all shares.
ROCK FIT FILES PATENT INFRINGEMENT SUITS: Rock Fit LLC on Aug. 3 filed two lawsuits in a Los Angeles federal court, one against J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and the other against HBI Branded Apparel Enterprises and Hanesbrands Inc. Rock Fit is the manufacturer of the Marika brand shape enhancing activewear. It alleged in the J.C. Penney lawsuit that the retailer’s Xersion performance wear fitted capri infringed on its “135” patent. The “135” patent also was the subject of the lawsuit against HBI and Hanesbrands over its alleged infringement in connection with its Champion Shape pants. In both lawsuits, Rock Fit is seeking damages and preliminary and permanent injunctions barring the sale of the alleged infringing product. A spokeswoman for J.C. Penney declined comment. A spokesman for Hanesbrand could not be reached for comment by press time.
YOXI’S SIX-PACK: Through midnight PST today, the public can vote at yoxi.tv to help whittle down the list of finalists in the Yoxi Trim the Waste of Fashion competition from 10 to six. Judges Geren Lockhart, Angela Lindvall, Scott Hahn and Rogan Gregory sized up the competition videos and will posted their comments by the time the online voting starts.
The final six teams’ next task will be to create long-form videos, before the public gets a chance to vote again on Aug. 22. The winner will be revealed Sept. 14 during fashion week.
MORE URBAN IN EUROPE: Urban Outfitters will open nine further stores across Europe and the U.K. during the fall season, the company said. A 12,512-square-foot store on Frankfurt’s Rossmarket will bow Sept. 2, while a 5,737-square-foot unit will open on Brussels’ Place Stephanie Sept. 30. In mid-October, a 6,443-square-foot store will open in Exeter, south west England. And in early 2012, the company said Urban Outfitters stores are slated to open in Berlin and five further British cities: Guildford, Southampton, Newcastle, Nottingham and Norwich. The company also has fully transactional French and German Web sites, which both launched in 2010.
