NEW YORK — Lerner New York/New York & Co. has appointed John E. DeWolf 3rd to the newly created position of executive vice president, real estate. DeWolf’s responsibilities will include directing the company’s real estate strategy, site selection and acquisition, along with store planning and construction.
“As [we move] forward to pursue targeted growth, deploying a real estate strategy tailored to our unique needs is a key management priority,” said Richard P. Crystal, president and chief executive of the retailer. Sales for Lerner’s 522 stores were $940 million in 2001.
Prior to this appointment, DeWolf was a senior vice president of development at New England Development. He also worked in a real estate capacity with such retailers as Woolworth Corp., The Disney Stores and The Limited, and was responsible for either the opening or remodeling of more than 2,000 stores.
