LONDON — Liberty London has announced the appointment of Madeleine Macey as its marketing and communications director, a newly created role in the company.
Macey, who began her career at Roland Mouret and served as the global communications director for brands such as Manolo Blahnik, Temperley London and Jimmy Choo, will oversee all communication activities and work on the company’s promotional strategy as it focuses on international growth.
Social media activities, editorial projects, customer initiatives and the growth of the Liberty Loyalty program will be among Macey’s responsibilities.
Macey said she was drawn to the retailer’s legacy as a “cultural institution” and the “original tastemaker” and will work toward safeguarding this legacy.
She will report to the Sarah Halsall, managing director for Liberty London and Liberty Fabric. “Madeleine brings a wealth of brand-building experience to the company as we focus on Liberty London and its global sales,” said Halsall of the appointment.
The company is focusing on growing its presence across the U.S. and Japan and has just completed a pop-up shop in Tokyo. It will also be relaunching its men’s wear department in the summer, followed by women’s wear in the fall.
“Arthur Lasenby Liberty was a man with one clear vision — to discover the extraordinary and bring it to the people. Madeleine is perfectly positioned to understand how we communicate the values of Liberty in all we do as we grow our audience,” said Liberty’s chairman, Marco Capello.
