EAST MEETS (MID)WEST: Chicago “it” designer Azeeza Khan is dressing New York City duo Lion Babe’s Jillian Hervey — Vanessa Williams’ daughter — and Lucas Goodman for their upcoming Lollapalooza set on Sunday. Wearing pieces exclusively from the designer’s ready-to-wear collection label Azeeza, lead singer Hervey will don a red floor length crepe de chine silk cape, a gold lambskin leather bandeau and gold lamé palazzo pants for the performance. The chanteuse will also be accessorized in a gold embellished choker and coordinating cuffs from the designer.
“She is wearing pieces from my spring ’16 collection, but we did have to swap out delicate silks for more practicality,” Khan said. “For example, the palazzo pants are taupe silk chiffon in the collection but for Jillian at Lolla, I sourced a stretch spandex for movement — also, in metallic gold lamé to express her rock star-chic vibe.”
Goodman will wear a black lambskin vest with python cargo pockets, also from the designer. Lollapalooza is not the first time Khan will dress Lion Babe. For the just-released “Impossible” music video, Hervey opens the clip dancing around in an Azeeza black crepe de chine silk cape.
“She really felt the cape represented the band. It has so much movement and volume, and everything Jillian does involves movement and volume — hello to her amazing hair,” Khan said.
Azeeza rtw retails from $495 for a silk gauze with python trim top to $1,850 for a silk crepe de chine gown with 18-karat gold-plated hand-beaded embellishment.
