Andy Salzer, the founder of Los Angeles-based shirtmaker Hiro Clark, works the wild side of his home city into his designs. “L.A. is a celebration of trash and owns it,” he says. “Trash is the foundation of L.A.’s allure and charm.” The T-shirts he makes ($128 each) look like hell and feel just great. This kind of statement shirt was huge ten years ago and is all the rage once again. Salzer says he likes the rare overcast days in L.A. “Those days make you want to stay in bed, listen to the waves crash on the beach, and play Smiths records all day. I love those days.” We hear you.
