SEVENTH INNING STRETCH: After the Los Angeles Dodgers play the Atlanta Braves on June 5, Dodger Stadium will turn into one gigantic yoga class.
In honor of Yoga Day, Marika Activewear, a division of FAM Brands, is sponsoring the event, which is open to beginners, seasoned yogis, stretchers and anyone else who is willing to bend a bit. Admission for the doubleheader package — as in the afternoon game and the yoga class — ranges from $30 to $80, depending on the seat choice. Attendees will also receive an exclusive co-branded Dodgers/Marika yoga mat that they can roll right out on the field and take home afterward.
The one-hour postgame yoga session will be led by certified yoga instructors Andrea Bogart and Trent David of the Aura Studio in West Hollywood. The game is slated to start at 1:10 p.m.
FAM Brands director of marketing Jennifer Vathanadireg said, “Yoga is a wellness and fitness activity that appeals to both women and men at all ages and ability levels. More and more people are turning to yoga and its many variations. The stadium venue enables thousands of participants to join in this grand yoga party.”
In its 31st year in business, Marika is not new to the yoga trend. The company sells yoga and Pilates performance clothing and activewear to thousands of sporting goods stores, yoga studios and spas throughout the U.S. Greenlighted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014, Yoga Day is an international celebration that was first put forward as a draft resolution to the UNGA by India’s permanent representative Asoke Mukerji.
