Marisa Berenson has been in the public eye for more than 40 years — as a model, actress and muse. While she added skin-care creator to that list in 2006, this fall marks the line’s debut on U.S. soil.
Berenson, who is the granddaughter of the legendary designer Elsa Schiaparelli, will introduce Sublime Care from Marisa Berenson Natural Luxury Cosmetics in the U.S. at Neiman Marcus on Oct. 21.
“I have always taken a holistic and natural approach to the way I live,” Berenson said. Looking to the natural world as the source of balance between beauty and wellness led her to the nourishing and antiaging power of the prickly pear, a cactus desert plant that thrives in the semiarid climate of Morocco, as well as in the American Southwest and around the Mediterranean.
The plant has the ability to rejuvenate itself in spite of its harsh surroundings, even resisting extreme drought conditions, and offers a wealth of health and beauty benefits, Berenson said. “Prickly pear extract is used as a natural folk remedy for ailments ranging from diabetes to weight gain, and the sap of the prickly pear makes an excellent hair conditioner,” said Berenson, adding that it is also rich in the powerful antioxidant Vitamin E and skin-renewing omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids.
Berenson collaborated with a team of scientists, biologists and her own naturopathic doctor on Sublime Care, which is comprised of Eye Contour, $116 for 0.9 oz.; Fabulous Oil, intended to moisturize skin deeply and restore firmness, 1 oz. for $100 and 3.3 oz. for $173; Filler, a rollerball intended to smooth facial lines and plump skin, 0.33 oz. for $80; Gentle Scrub, a biweekly exfoliator, $84 for 1.69 oz; Intense Day Cream, $173 for 1.69 oz.; Luminous Water, a toner that retails for $84 for 3.3 oz.; Red Clay Mask, a biweekly mask, $95 for 1.69 oz., and Sublime Serum, a concentrated formula intended to firm skin, $97 for 6 oz. All are silicone- and paraben-free.
