LONDON — Matchesfashion.com has named Richard Johnson to the new post of commercial director. He will begin next month, and report to Tom Chapman, the company’s executive chairman and founder.
Johnson most recently served as vice president of The Al Tayer Group, where he was responsible for developing the men’s wear and women’s wear offer at Harvey Nichols and Bloomingdale’s Dubai.
Previously, he was buying controller for men’s wear at Harvey Nichols. During that period he also worked with the British Fashion Council, mentoring Jonathan Anderson, Christopher Raeburn and James Long during the start-up phase of their careers.
He will oversee a buying and merchandising team of more than 40 people, and focus on brand relationships, the company said.
Chapman said: “We are delighted to have Richard join us and help further connect buying and merchandising with our technology, e-commerce and content teams in order to drive the roadmap of global growth and continue to inspire our customers.”
