For most actresses, Golden Globe weekend is a mix of work and play, and it’s no different for Greer Grammer, although her gig as Miss Golden Globe is particularly taxing as she’ll log the most camera time handing out statuettes to each winner.
“I really fangirl out over Reese Witherspoon. I’m afraid I’ll freak out and possibly cry if she wins for ‘Wild,’” says Grammer, 22. She is in her room at the Beverly Hilton scarfing down room service eggs and bacon an hour before one of her official gigs — a lunch in her honor with social media outlets. Grammer is the daughter of TV’s Frasier Crane, Kelsey Grammer, and Barrie Buckner, and like many Hollywood daughters before her, the Globes gig is a stepping stone, she hopes, to a long-term career as a working actress. The plucky blonde secured a few TV credits — like “iCarly” on Nickelodeon — before she landed the part of head cheerleader Lissa on MTV’s “Awkward,” which is starting its fifth and final season this year.

While her part during the Globes will be line-less, Grammer says she hopes her look will speak a thousand words. “Hi, it’s my show’s last season, give me a job. Starting in June I’ll be available,” she says.
In fact, its first day of filming is on Globes Sunday, “but they let it slide,” since she’ll be otherwise engaged. Grammer, whose full name is Kandace Greer Grammer, is a former pageant queen (her crowns include Miss Regional California Teen USA in 2011 and Miss Teen Malibu in 2008 and 2009) and recent University of Southern California grad. “iCarly” was her first acting gig and she hopes to some day do a soapy drama, like “Scandal,” a favorite show. This season, she’ll also appear on ABC Family’s “Melissa & Joey” where she plays, ironically enough, an actress. “I get to use my real voice instead of my ‘Awkward’ voice,” she says, referring to her character’s high-pitched trill. But her dream job would be a play with her dad, whom she calls a “Shakespeare nerd.” Her father, along with half-sister Spencer and college boyfriend Cody Ankrim, will be her Globes dates. “I got a fair amount of tickets,” she says with a laugh.
And what will she wear for her Cinderella night? She chose a long strapless, shimmery dress in a neutral color (so as not to detract from or clash with the winners’).
“It took hours but it ended up being the first one I tried on,” she says.
