Michael Michalsky hit his commercial stride for next spring, and not only in men’s sportswear, where he’s long been on more solid ground. The women’s lineup was pretty but not girlish in straightforward silhouettes. A blurred blush of a floral print on a clean white ground was neatly tailored for a city shorts suit; fluttered on the chiffon skirt of a strapless gown with leather bodice; blossomed on an evening twinset; was embroidered and studded with rhinestones for a little slip of a dress; and dressed up satin jogging pants or gym shorts. The bone leather blazer with matching leather gym shorts looked sharp.
When it comes to men, Michalsky remains devoted to homeboy aesthetics. A bone cotton one-button suit and white poplin three-button model sported cropped, cuffed, dropped crotch trousers, the latter also showing up in a jeweled kaleidoscope print in satin. There were long, below-the-knee jersey shorts, cuffed narrow leg styles, and lean tangerine jeans.
