Women’s denim brand NYDJ has partnered with Clothes4Souls, a division of the non-profit Soles4Souls, which creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of clothing around the world, on a new charitable campaign.
Starting Wednesday and throughout 2017, NYDJ will donate an item of clothing to Clothes4Souls when a customer tries on a pair of jeans during designated events and promotions.
Clothes4Souls distributes clothing to people in poverty and victims of natural disasters. In addition, donations are a key component to the company’s micro-enterprise programs, providing the means for entrepreneurs in developing nations to step out of poverty.
NYDJ kicks off National Fit Month on Wednesday and will celebrate by hosting several Try On events across the brand’s retail partners and their stand-alone stores, donating an item of clothing to benefit women in need when customers simply try on a pair of NYDJs.
NYDJ will also donate an item of clothing to Clothes4Souls in the month of March when a customer buys a pair of jeans at NYDJ.com. The brand aims to donate a total of 50,000 items of clothing with a retail value of about $5 million to Clothes4Souls and will hold ongoing trial programs that benefit the charity through the remainder of the year to achieve the goal.
“We are proud to partner with Clothes4Souls on this program as an extension of our Fit is Everything campaign because it supports two key pillars of our brand values: fit and community,” said Lisa Collier, president and chief executive officer of NYDJ. “We pride ourselves on a revolutionary denim fit that makes a woman feel like the best version of herself and we know that conversion after trying on NYDJ is nearly 90 percent. We thought this Try On program with Clothes4Souls was a great way to celebrate our fit ownership while engaging our community to help empower and give back to women who are in need.”
Buddy Teaster, president and ceo of Clothes4Souls, said NYDJ understands women and how important it is to help other women around the world break the cycle of poverty.
“The NYDJ donations will make a huge difference to women in the developing world by creating jobs and providing short-term relief,” Teaster said.
Known for its Original Slimming Fit jeans, NYDJ is currently the number-one selling women’s denim brand at department stores in the U.S. based on dollar volume, according to the NPD Group Consumer Tracking Survey for 2016. Founded in 2003 in Los Angeles, NYDJ’s denim and apparel offerings are designed for comfort in sizes that range from petite to plus size and maternity with its Lift Tuck Technology.
Based in Nashville, Clothes4Souls creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of clothing around the world. The organization advances its antipoverty mission by collecting new and used clothing from individuals, schools, faith-based institutions, civic organizations and corporate partners, then distributing those clothes through direct donations to people in need and by provisioning qualified micro-enterprise programs.
