Nylon has tapped Jamie Elden as president and chief revenue officer to help grow the media company’s business, which has been in flux over the past few years.
Last year, the company lost its editor in chief and chief marketing officer Michelle Lee to Allure, and it cut a handful of staffers, including its publisher. Prior to that, the company transitioned Nylon Guys to a digital product, which came after a rocky merger with Fashionindie.
In the new role, Elden will oversee operations across print, digital, content, e-commerce, events and Nylon’s curated blogger network. He will work from the company’s New York and Los Angeles offices, Nylon said.
Nylon Media executive chairman Marc Luzzatto offered: “In Jamie, I’ve finally found a leader as passionate as I am about the future of Nylon as the definitive brand for young women throughout the world. Our audience and brand partners can look forward to extraordinary growth and extraordinarily engaging content.”
Elden comes to Nylon from Federated Media, a Media General Company, where he served as chief revenue officer and head of entertainment for the last five years. Before that, he served as executive vice president and head of the digital studio at United Entertainment Group, a branded content agency cofounded by UTA.
As part of the new hire, Nylon has tapped UTA to help it grow across platforms. The talent agency will work closely with Elden to help expand Nylon’s content strategy and to move its offerings into other media platforms, among other initiatives, the company said.
“Partnering with UTA makes perfect sense,” explained Elden. “They are leaders in digital talent and emerging digital platforms. More importantly, they know how a premium brand like Nylon can utilize on-screen and creative talent to deliver consistent, standout content in today’s crowded market.”
