NEW YORK — Oilily, a Dutch retailer and manufacturer known primarily for its colorful children’s wear, will open its seventh U.S. store on Aug. 15, in the NorthPark Mall in Dallas.
The 1,200-square-foot shop will carry apparel for women and children, as well as fragrance and cosmetics lines, accessories, stationery and shoes. Women’s products will be about 30 percent of the mix. The company operates 2,000 stores in 34 countries and generated sales of more than $100 million last year.
Total U.S. business is more than $6 million a year. Oilily opened a store here on Madison Avenue last August, just for children’s merchandise. It also has units in Beverly Hills, Aspen, Chicago, Boston and Washington, D.C. The Chicago store is its American home base and was opened six years ago.
The company said it is too soon to project sales for the Dallas store. However, the Manhattan unit, at 1,000 square feet, was expected to generate between $1 million and $1.5 million a year.
The company is also exploring San Francisco and Miami for other freestanding stores. It operates in-store shops in Nordstrom units in San Francisco and Costa Mesa, Calif.
