NEW YORK — A private funeral mass for Oscar de la Renta will be held here Nov. 3.
The mass will take place at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84th Street.
De la Renta died Monday at his home in Kent, Conn., at age 82 after a long battle with cancer. The consummate charmer, the designer mingled with royalty, celebrity, socials and more throughout his long career. That career began at Elizabeth Arden in the Sixties and stretched through the last three decades of the 20th century and well into the second decade of the 21st.
As reported, he was one of the last of the generation that literally put American fashion — and the names that were on the label — on the global map. While the size of his business never matched that of some of his peers, his outsized reputation surpassed them in many other ways.
