REMEMBERING YVES: Marking five years since the death of couturier Yves Saint Laurent, his longtime partner Pierre Bergé has organized a pair of commemorative events in Paris. On Saturday, the mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, is to unveil a plaque on the facade of the building at 55 Rue de Babylone, where the designer lived from 1970 until his death at age 71 from brain cancer.
Bergé has also dispatched invitations for a private event at Opéra Bastille on June 10, where a cast has been assembled to pay homage in music and words. Performers are to include violinist Renaud Capuçon, composer and pianist Jérôme Ducros, pianist François-Frédéric Guy, mezzo-soprano Sophie Koch and actor Guillaume Gallienne, who is to portray Bergé in the forthcoming Saint Laurent biopic directed by Jalil Lespert.
