Renfro Corp., which designs, manufactures, markets and sells branded and private label legwear products, has named Stan Jewell as its chief executive officer and president — succeeding Bud Kilby, who retired after a 26-year career at the Mount Airy, N.C.-based company.
Renfro’s branded products include Fruit of the Loom, Polo Ralph Lauren, New Balance and Carhartt, among others. Aside from exclusive licenses with these brands, the company has its own brands that include Copper Sole, K Bell and Hot Sox.
The company said Jewell “brings 26 years of global textile and apparel leadership experience spanning a variety of industries,” and noted that his most recent position was as president of VF Corp.’s central and South America operations, which is based in Santiago, Chile.
Tom Wall, on behalf of Renfro Corp.’s board of directors, said Jewell “has an impressive track record of delivering exceptional growth and profitability in the organizations he has led. He is a strong innovative leader and is uniquely qualified to lead the company in its continued growth.”

Jewell described Renfro in a statement as a respected company with “a rich history of success.” Headquartered in Mount Airy, Renfro also has locations in New York, California, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina as well as Canada, China, Mexico, India, Japan, South Korea and in Europe as well.
Renfro was founded in 1921. It employs 5,000 people globally with 350 at its headquarters. The company’s executive team includes David Dinkins, executive vice president and chief financial officer; Greg Ackard, executive vice president and president of Renfro Core, and Dean Norman, vice president and president of Hot Sox.
