NEW YORK — Carol Rollo, owner of a chain of specialty stores bearing her name, will open her sixth unit on May 27.
The 1,200-square-foot shop will be at 75 Main St., East Hampton, N.Y., and is her third boutique on the east end of Long Island.
The firm has been in business 25 years. Besides the flagship, at 1147 First Ave., between East 62nd and East 63rd streets, it has stores in Southampton and West Hampton, N.Y.; Deal, N.J., and South Beach in Miami.
“We follow our customers to their regular resort spots,” said Rollo, who projected first-year sales of about $500,000 for the new store. The company’s volume is over $3 million a year.
The chain has been known by the name Carol Rollo Riding High, but she said she has dropped the Riding High portion of the name.
Rollo carries Jean Paul Gaultier, Franco Moschino’s signature collection and his Cheap & Chic line, Rifat Ozbek, Matsuda, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Sui, Badgley Mishka, Vivian Tam and Label.
The shops sell 65 percent women’s wear and 35 percent men’s, except in South Beach, where the breakdown is reversed. She said the East Hampton store will also have a fine jewelry concession with Tabbah, a manufacturer and designer.
Rollo plans to move the Manhattan store to a larger site on the Upper East Side. The current shop is 3,200 square feet, but only has 1,200 square feet of selling space. The new location is not set.
