The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp held its graduation show on June 12 and 13 in a new venue: Park Spoor Noord, an old industrial area reclaimed several years ago and now hosting cultural events, concerts and sports contests. Amid the venue’s old brick walls, graduating students showed a wide range of looks to the jury of fashion professionals, which included French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, Uniqlo head of research and design Yuki Katsuta, Adidas Sport Style Division creative director Dirk Schönberger, makeup artist Inge Grognard, and A Magazine Curated By editor-in-chief Dan Thawley.
Two students were awarded prizes for their colorful and innovative work: Laure Severac won the BVBA32, FFI, Smets and Weekend Knack awards for her punchy, psychedelic-print streetwear looks and mystical silhouettes. Miriam Laubscher, who designed long, fluid togas with impressive textile work, won the Graanmarkt 13 and Maison Anna Heylen prizes.
