TAKING STYLING TO A NEW DEGREE: The School of Fashion at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, is adding the first accredited Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Styling in the U.S. The styling program, which begins this fall, is expected to train students to style, produce and art direct for print and online media outlets, magazines, ad campaigns, commercials, catalogs, look books, fashion shows and videos, as well as work with personal clients. The four year BFA Fashion Styling program is headed by Flore Morton, a graduate of the l’École Supérieure d’Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris. Morton studied under Pierre Hardy and designed under Martin Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier at Hermès to create the looks for both designers’ shows. Flore joined the School of Fashion faculty in 2006, and became Styling Coordinator in 2012. She single-handedly developed the school’s program under the Director of the School of Fashion, Simon Ungless. In 2012, over 350 students took courses in the fashion styling curriculm.
