BUSTING MOVES: “A lot of dancing was going on,” is how Nicolas Ghesquière describes the atmosphere at Louis Vuitton’s fall campaign shoot, which was scored by unreleased Selena Gomez tracks, the star of the ads.
Gomez, who posed for photographer Bruce Weber, seconded that emotion.
“We did the shoot in Miami, and it was incredibly laid-back,” the 23-year-old pop singer told WWD. “I have done photo shoots since I was very young, and, to me, the most important thing at a shoot is to be surrounded by people with good energy. We aren’t saving the world here, so it should be light and fun.”
Gomez’s relationship with the brand has been building in the past several months. She accompanied Ghesquière to the Met Ball last month in head-to-toe Vuitton. Her fashion profile has increased alongside her promotion of her latest album, “Revival,” as she’s worn Monse, Karl Lagerfeld and Rodarte on the road.
“Wearing Vuitton makes me feel strong and confident,” Gomez said. “Nicolas knows how to make a woman feel good about herself. At the last fashion show in Paris, I wore a denim skirt and a white shirt. I felt very simple and chic. Then there are the times I feel more edgy and sexy wearing LV.”
Ghesquière, Vuitton’s creative director of women’s collection, hails Gomez as a “unique talent” and an “icon of her generation. I like her energy. A whole generation of boys and girls recognize themselves in her, and she unleashes something special,” he enthused.
The ads break in August issues, with Ghesquière and Gomez leaking certain images earlier this week on their personal social media accounts. Appearing alongside the singer are models Erika Linder, Rianne Van Rompaey, Natalie Westling, Sora Choi, Jean Campbell and Luisana Gonzalez.
