The Shopper: Jackie Harris
As a Carte Blush unlimited monthly member, Jackie Harris estimates she comes to Blushington about three to four times a week for makeup applications and dry hairstyling. “I love it,” she said, as lead sales trainer and senior artist Lauren Serra applies a bronze eye shadow on her lids. “You feel pampered and you get to know the [artists], so over time you develop new looks and expand upon things.” A regular since Blushington first opened, Harris’ frequent visits have exposed her to new brands, like Erborian and Illuminate Cosmetics. “It’s so easy because you can just pop in if it’s day or night,” she said, adding she’s getting ready for a dinner later in the evening. “It takes having to have a special occasion in order to get your makeup done out of the equation.” Since Harris routinely works with Serra, she trusted the associate to help her pick out some holiday presents—and products for herself—to cap off the day.
The Sales Associate: Lauren Serra
After working in criminal justice for years, Lauren Serra made the switch to makeup artistry because of a lifelong passion for beauty. “I wanted to do something that nurtured my creative side,” she said. “I wanted something where I could touch people, but that would be fun for me.” As lead sales trainer and senior artist, Serra makes a point to establish a bond with clients, like Jackie Harris, who come in multiple times a week. “I’m warm and friendly and I want to hear about her lifestyle,” she said, of her approach. “The number-one thing is to establish trust and that starts as soon as they walk in. It’s about making women feel safe and letting them know that we’re going to work together to create their look.” For today’s session, Serra applied a bronze smokey eye using products from Kevyn Aucoin and Stila, before helping Harris choose some gifts from the store’s holiday sets and new offerings to the tune of $400.
