SILVER SCREENING: Jennifer Lawrence, dressed in a black Christian Dior couture suit and neck scarf, passed a ring she was wearing to her publicist at the premiere of “Silver Linings Playbook” at Florence Gould Hall on Sunday night. “Sorry,” she said, “but this thing is killing me.” She also apologized for appearing wobbly on her feet, blaming it on her 5-inch heels. Those self-effacing mannerisms endear her to critics and fans alike and ultimately won her the role of Tiffany in the film, according to director David O. Russell, who adapted the screenplay based on the novel by Matthew Quick.
“Jennifer is real,” he said. “She’s like a girl that could live next door to you, but she’s also that girl that could knock you out. She’s intense, she’s confident, she’s emotional and she’s very available. It all reads on her face. She’s the kind of girl who could fix your car and then clean up and dance your ass off.”

The Dior- and Lexus-sponsored event (which also served as a benefit for the Ghetto Film School and La Jolla Playhouse) drew Julie Taymor, Jeremy Renner, Gigi Stone and Sandy Kenyon. After the film, guests walked a few blocks north to an after party and dinner at the Plaza Athénée, where Lawrence, Harvey Weinstein, Georgina Chapman and Anna Wintour gathered near the bar. Lawrence explained that she and Russell tended to goof off together during filming, while Cooper kept things in line.
“If Bradley weren’t there, the movie would’ve never been made,” she said. “One time, we were running late, way over schedule, and Bradley was trying to find David and I. [He found us] making videos on my phone, pretending we were wiping our butts with coffee on paper towels, and making videos of it. Bradley was like, ‘Guys, we gotta go get this shot,’ and we were like, ‘yeah, alright Bradley.’”
