SORTA KINDA CLUTCH: Designer Wilbur Pack Jr. has created a collection of handbags inspired by the African tundra, the ancient temples of Indonesia and other “enchanting locales in the world.” Aptly dubbed the Exotica Collection by Pack’s company, Sorta Kinda Enterprises LLC, the line retails from $95 to $199 and includes large and small clutches in color combinations such as saffron and cream, emerald and olive and onyx and ivory. The clutches, which incorporate gold hardware and leather trim, will debut in select boutiques this spring.
“Creating this line was one way for me to capture global exploits and turn them into urban fabulosity, while maintaining accessible luxury for my clients and customers,” said Pack, who emphasized affordable price and bold colors for the collection.
With the launch of Exotica, the women’s wear designer said he is “exploring his passion for travel, while mining his wish list of extraordinary destinations.”
Pack, who founded the Ashanti Project, which empowers and supports teens of color interested in the design world, also sells Exotica on his Web site, skwilbur.com. “Quality fashion and accessories designed with a deliberate ‘wow factor’ have the ability to transform lives by shifting attitudes, moods, outlooks and I love being part of an industry capable of that level of impact,” Pack said. “My customer is diverse and complex and I create special, attention-grabbing pieces to beautify their world and I believe that matters.”
