True Religion cofounder Kym Gold is back in the fashion business with a line called Style Union.
Style Union is a loungewear collection featuring an “ultra-luxe knit fabric,” according to Gold, who is working with partner Derick LaSalla.
The Style Union line is produced in Los Angeles, with wholesale price points between $28 to $210. The brand was recently shown to buyers at the Coterie show at Jacob K. Javits Convention Center last month.
“In the world of fashion, there is a huge void in real novelty, luxury loungewear. There is sleepwear loungewear, but nothing for women who are also traveling. Style Union is for women who work out and who can wear it from day to night. This is loungewear women can wear outside. It is a fashion statement for people who want to be comfortable,” Gold said.

The fabric features recovery stretch and is designed to be a sexy alternative to workout wear. “This is a line you would wear with slides,” Gold said.
Gold, a 30-year veteran of the fashion industry, cofounded denim brand True Religion with her ex-husband, Jeff Lubell. She left the company in 2007, and in 2008 went on to cofound relaxed-chic, boho brand Babakul Inc., which she later sold. Gold is also the author of “Gold Standard: How to Rock the World and Run an Empire,” which discusses her brief marriage to TV producer Mark Burnett and the sequence of events leading up to the creation of True Religion to her exit from the company.
Gold has also been busy mentoring young designers. She has helped mentor entrepreneurs for the past two years at Phoenix Fashion Week. More recently, Gold mentored architect-turned-designer Azmara Asefa, who was a participant in Phoenix Fashion Week’s national emerging designer competition in 2015.
As for her mentoring work, Gold said, “It’s time for me to give back….Azmara caught my eye. She has a different fashion take, being an architect before. I was intrigued by her journey and why she’s doing this.”
