Under Armour Eyewear is partnering with Ripken Baseball to commemorate National Sunglasses Day on June 27.
The companies will sponsor a national essay contest for youth baseball/softball teams between the ages of eight and 12. Teams will be invited to submit a one-page essay on the importance of eye protection to “See Like an Athlete.” Once the essays are received, 10 teams will be selected to win Under Armour Youth sunglasses for the entire team. A dedicated web site, underarmoureyes.com, has been created with all the program details and contest requirements and will launch on National Sunglasses Day.
“The Ripken Baseball organization is the ideal platform for Under Armour Eyewear to highlight the importance of young athletes protecting their eyes from harmful UVA/B/C rays. Our innovative performance styles provide them with the safety and eye protection they need to be better, healthier players,” said Scott Betty, senior vice president of product and marketing for Under Armour Eyewear. “Everyone at Under Armour Eyewear is committed to providing the highest quality performance eyewear product for the next generation of athletes.”
“In baseball, your eyes play an integral role in how well you perform on the field,” added John Bramlette, executive vice president of amateur baseball and growth at Ripken Baseball. “Under Armour’s Eyewear not only comes in the new styles that young players want, but delivers on our joint vision of helping players perform their best under the safest conditions.”
