Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Brett Biggs will take over the position of chief financial officer as Charles Holley, cfo and executive vice president, retires at the end of this year.
Holley served as cfo since December 2010. Biggs, who will report to chief executive officer Doug McMillon, has served as executive vice president and cfo of Wal-Mart International since January 2014. In that role, he is “responsible for international strategy and finance activities, including business planning and analysis, financial services, and support for real estate and mergers and acquisitions,” the company said.
Prior to that, Biggs was cfo of Wal-Mart U.S. and served as senior vice president of Sam’s Club, among other positions at the company.
McMillon said due to Biggs’ experience in all of the company’s divisions, he is “well prepared” and “thoroughly understands Wal-Mart’s operations, how we intend to compete in a dynamic and changing retail environment, and how we can best serve customers, associates and shareholders.”
