WEDDING STATUS: Facebook fans may be glued to the company’s dropping stock price, but some paid close attention to the wedding dress Mark Zuckerberg’s new wife Priscilla Chan wore Saturday. Designer Claire Pettibone was besieged with phone calls Sunday and Monday from buyers looking for the $4,700 laser-cut floral gown adorned with matte sequins lined in silk with a chapel length train. Even though bridal salons are traditionally closed on Sundays and Mondays, they tweeted to their followers that they had the dress in stock but that wasn’t the case. Needless to say, orders poured in from 14 stores Monday and more are expected this week, according a to a company spokeswoman. Pettibone’s Web site picked up 26,000 unique visitors Monday, a hike compared with her average of 1,500.
The company also heard from its Italian fabric supplier, Sky Between the Branches, Monday morning “to warn them that another designer wanted to purchase the exact fabric of Chan’s gown, but, lucky for Claire, she has the exclusive rights to that particular beaded fabric.”
