DOLLING UP DISNEY: Snow White will be stepping out of the woods next spring in a ruffle-trimmed cotton cardigan, silk chiffon scarf accentuated with a fawn charm and a canvas tote printed with gold-foiled silhouettes of her forest friends — all courtesy of Charlotte Tarantola’s new collaboration with Walt Disney Co. Retailing from $59 to $158, the tops and accessories from Charlotte Tarantola for Disney will be available starting in February at Fred Segal Fun in Santa Monica, Calif., and other specialty stores. MALDONADO BRANCHES OUT: Margaret Maldonado, whose agency MMA represents a stable of Hollywood wardrobe and hair stylists, makeup artists and photographers, is breaking into the apparel business, with a line called, L’Agence. The 30-piece debut capsule collection for resort featured pieces designed by MMA stylists Simone Harouche and Maryam Malakpour.
The 80-piece spring-summer 2009 collection, which showed at Designers & Agents in New York, had items designed by Cristina Ehrlich, Dawn Boonyachlito and Larissa Williams. Under Maldonado’s creative direction, the collection includes relaxed layering pieces in black, cream, gray and blue georgette, washed silk, linen, Modal and Lycocel inspired by a holiday on the French Riviera.
The collection also includes metal jewelry and accessories such as scarves and a BlackBerry bag. Wholesale prices range from $38 to $350. Stores include Ron Herman and Selfridges.
