WP Diamonds has a partnership with Jewelers for Children that allows for a built-in contribution to the nonprofit whenever the diamond firm purchases jewelry from consumers.
WP Diamonds is the consumer division of White Pine Trading, a recycled- and fine-jewelry firm. It purchases diamonds, jewelry and watches from consumers globally through wpdiamonds.com and retailers nationwide. Jewelers for Children was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry, with the goal of helping children in need. So far, the nonprofit has donated more than $50 million to programs benefiting kids who have been impacted by illness, abuse or neglect. It works through charity partners that include St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish America and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The collaboration between the two firms is the first for both parties. Retailers get the benefit of WP’s resources and expertise, while the nonprofit gives WP access to its network of more than 1,500 jewelry retail stores across the country.
David Rocha, executive director of Jewelers for Children, said, “WP Diamonds is a trusted name in the jewelry industry and offers a turnkey solution for retail jewelers to offer buyback options to their customers.
Every purchase a retailer makes from a consumer results in a donation to Jewelers for Children. According to a spokeswoman for Jewelers for Children, most purchases generate a donation of 5 percent of the purchase price to the nonprofit and a 5 percent commission to the retail store.
