BERLIN — Zalando is expanding its market reach into Ireland and the Czech Republic in summer 2018, the online giant announced Monday.
Zalando’s first new country entries since 2013, these bring the number of European markets catered to by Zalando up to 17. Ireland and the Czech Republic will add another 15.4 million citizens to Zalando’s potential consumer base, the company said.
The Berlin-based etailer said customers in the new markets will be served by existing logistics centers.
“We are tackling our expansion smartly, leveraging knowledge from our existing European markets. And we’re operating in usual Zalando style: launch, learn, iterate and scale,” said cochief executive officer Rubin Ritter.
In other developments reported today, Zalando said it is further localizing its proposition in Germany and Switzerland with two new language versions of its online shops. English will now be offered in Germany and Italian in Switzerland.
In addition, Zalando made known that Monki will become the third H&M brand to be featured on its sales platform. As of August, Monki will be available in all of Zalando’s 17 markets.
