Todd Sanfield is used to being behind the camera — he was an IMG model before launching his Detroit-based men’s underwear line in 2010.

But being shot by François Nars for his own campaign is a unique experience, which all came about from a chance meeting in a New York magazine store.

But, according to Nars, he wanted to work with Sanfield before they crossed paths.

“The very first time I saw pictures of Todd, I knew I wanted to work with him one day. I was struck by his strength throughout the images, his bone structure and his undeniable sex appeal,” said Nars. “The Todd Sanfield underwear line makes perfect sense since Todd knows the body so well.”

In the fall campaign, which is Nars and Sanfield’s first collaboration, Sanfield, who is also a pharmacist, wears the trunk, brief and jockstrap styles, which are made of a microfiber blend of modal and elastane and sold exclusively at toddsanfield.com. The collection ranges from $24 to $28.

“Francois is one of the most kind, truly genuine individuals I have ever met,” said Sanfield. “Meeting and working with him was a surreal experience and I feel honored that he feels so highly of me and the Todd Sanfield brand.”
