Mack Weldon continues to grow its assortment.
The men’s innerwear brand is launching the 1285 performance sock, named after its first New York office address, which was located inside a law firm.
“The lawyers surrounding us loved our socks, but often requested a version more appropriate for fine dress shoes and suits,” said Brian Berger, Mack Weldon’s chief executive officer and founder. “Socks are a core part of our assortment, including everyday and no show. So doing something in the dress category was a natural extension for our business.”
The sock, which retails for $24 and will be available on May 17, is made from a finer, 200 needle blend of Pima cotton and X Static Silver, an anti-microbial fiber that prevents odor and regulates heat. Mack Weldon also uses this fiber in its underwear and T-shirts. The socks will have a longer profile than the brand’s other options and a foot band to keep them in place.
According to Berger, the brand has already received interest in the new style with more than 1,000 preorders. “There is demand for this style across our customer base,” he said.
