The Black Tux, an online tuxedo and suit rental company, has formed its first collaboration, with Ovadia & Sons.

The New York-based designers have created a line of rental suits, shirts and accessories available for preorder on The Black Tux site beginning this week.

“Since we’re all entrepreneurs and outsiders to the fashion industry, we had a lot in common and got along well,” said Andrew Blackmon, cofounder of The Black Tux. “The idea of partnering came about naturally. We’re committed to quality and design, and knew that Ariel and Shimon would want to stay true to that with these designs. Ovadia & Sons is an incredible brand that we think most guys would love to be able to wear. As far as we know, there aren’t any other rental options from a modern brand that does tailoring as well as they do. We hope our customers will enjoy wearing the pieces in this collection — they’re classic and well-made, while still being offbeat and fun.

Shimon Ovadia, who designs the label with his brother Ariel, said they met The Black Tux team and “liked what they were doing. Tuxedo rentals are a disaster and they are passionate about fixing that. This collaboration offers a customer that may not have $2,500 to drop on a tuxedo a chance to wear Ovadia — even if it’s for a few hours.”

The collection includes a tan, notched lapel wool suit, a double-breasted wool and mohair tuxedo, a pleated bib-front shirt, cufflinks and patterned handkerchiefs. The price for the rentals will range from $120 to $215 and the collection can be ordered separately or as full looks. The collection will be available to rent through the 2017 wedding season, Blackmon said.

Over the past two years, The Black Tux, which was founded in 2013, has raised $35 million in financing through two separate rounds and quadrupled the size of its warehouse in California. On April 1, it opened a brick-and-mortar location at The Tie Bar’s Chicago store. It also has a retail showroom at its Santa Monica headquarters.
