Alex Sharp is a newfound fan of designer Billy Reid who dressed him for the Met Gala and will be whipping up a tuxedo for him to wear to the Tony Awards on June 7. But the two hadn’t met until tonight.
Sharp, who is up for a Tony as Lead Actor in a Play for “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,” was the guest of honor at a cocktail party at Reid’s new boutique on Charles Street Wednesday night.
“This is the first time we met in person,” Reid said. “We’d just communicated through clothes.”
Sharp, whose starring role is his first professional acting job, said he’s gained a new appreciation for fashion since stepping onto the Broadway stage.
“I view it as an art form and I’m a huge fan of the arts,” he said.
The event also served to introduce the boutique that opened at the end of last year to fashion insiders.
With editors such as Vogue’s Anna Wintour in attendance, it was mission accomplished.
