LONDON — Swedish high street label Cos has teamed with Mr Porter on a capsule range that will be announced later today, WWD has learned.
“We have selected core pieces from the main Cos range, and curated a key edit for Mr Porter,” said Martin Andersson, Cos head of men’s wear design. “Every piece has an exclusive element: fabric, color, design elements. The collection is underpinned by two core trends — Every Day Decadence and Future Vision. Decadent fabrics and a feeling of richness are inspired by artist Lynette Boakye’s paintings contrasted against sporty technical nylons and polyester.”
The Cos x Mr Porter collection, The Art of Everyday, is a 35-piece capsule range that includes tactile knitwear, trousers, shirts, outerwear in hues of dusty pink, gray, brown and navy. The line will also include footwear and travel bags. Prices range from $45 for a T-shirt, to $350 for a coat. It will be sold on Mrporter.com, on cosstores.com and select Cos stores on Oct. 27.
This is the second time the e-tailer has partnered with the brand. According to Mr Porter buyer Daniel Todd, the project was first conceptualized after several meetings to discuss potential opportunities with Cos managing director Marie Honda. Their previous collaboration, which launched last year, was a 23-piece collection called the Modern Traveller. Mr Porter said its first range was “very well received” with the two companies having a similar style-conscious client.
The Swedish label has a few projects in the pipeline such as working with the Guggenheim Museum later this year. Cos will be sponsoring the museum’s major retrospective of American painter Agnes Martin, “who has always been a strong influence of ours,” said Andersson. “Cos will create a capsule collection of 12 pieces for men and women inspired by the works of Agnes Martin to celebrate the partnership.”
