Colin McNair has joined Zachary Prell as vice president of design.
In this newly created position, McNair will oversee the creative direction and product development of the brand and will oversee the design and execution of men’s collections.
McNair has more than 15 years experience in the men’s business and most recently served as senior design director of John Varvatos, where he was responsible for the concept, color, and fabrication of the John Varvatos USA line. He reported to John Varvatos. McNair had been with Varvatos for 10 years.
Zachary Prell, the brand’s founder, cited McNair’s “tremendous design acumen, key supplier relationships and fabric expertise across the sportswear, furnishings and tailored clothing market segments,” and pointed to his “experience successfully building design, technical design and product development teams. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Colin and have been impressed by his loyalty, integrity and ability to create compelling, on-trend collections in an ever-evolving men’s wear market.”
McNair said he was happy to join Zachary Prell “at this important stage of expansion. The brand is on a great trajectory and I’m looking forward to this unique opportunity to lead the company’s creative direction and collaborate with the entire Zachary Prell team.”
McNair is the latest senior executive to join the brand. In July 2015, Chuck Lucia, previously senior vice president at Hugo Boss North America, joined the company as president.
Zachary Prell got its start in sport shirts and is now a full lifestyle brand that is carried in over 200 department and specialty stores in the U.S. For its spring collection showing in July, the SoHo-based brand will move to an official Council of Fashion Designers of America venue for the first time after showing off-site for the past two seasons.
