The pink whale is on the track.

Vineyard Vines, the preppy Connecticut-based brand, has partnered with NASCAR Germain Racing and driver Casey Mears for five upcoming races in 2016. Under the terms of the deal, the company’s pink whale logo will be prominently displayed on Mears’ number 13 racing car as well as his driver’s fire suit. The sponsorship deal kicked off at the “Combat Wounded Coalition 400 at the Brickyard,” which took place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday.

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Casey Mears and Germain Racing, as they share in our passion of: ‘Every day should feel this good,’” said Shep Murray, Vineyard Vines’ co-chief executive officer and cofounder. “NASCAR is known for its passionate fan base and its exciting once-in-a-lifetime racing experiences. We can’t wait to watch our pink whale circle that track on the number 13 car during the race.”

“Mears is not only a recognizable name in auto racing, but is a true family man,” added Shep’s brother Ian Murray, also co-ceo and cofounder. “Casey is the third generation of successful drivers in his family and coming from a family-run business myself, we were excited to partner with someone who has a similar background.”

Mears cited a quote from the brothers that he found on the company’s web site, “‘People always say that if you do what you love, you’ll be successful.’ There’s no doubt that we’re doing what we love and loving what we do. We’re having fun, working hard and meeting great people.'” He added: “That quote is so true and is exactly how I feel about racing. It’s good to see the American dream come true for them and to see the brand continue to grow.”

Mears and Germain Racing have become known for tough competition on the Superspeedway circuits as well as road course tracks and other venues.

Team owner and founder Bob Germain Jr. said: “The story of the Murray brothers is great. Two guys quit their jobs to sell neckties. It’s exciting to promote Vineyard Vines in what, I believe, is still just the beginning of the growth of their brand. We are thrilled to bring the Vineyard Vines style into the NASCAR garage.” Other sponsors of the team include Caymus Vineyards and Dometic.

The other races that Vineyard Vines will sponsor will be in Richmond in September, followed by Chicago, Charlotte, N.C., and Miami.
