LONDON — Harrods will unveil its newly revamped men’s SUN department, which carries socks, underwear and nightwear, on Nov. 15, WWD has learned.
SUN is situated on the lower ground floor and has expanded from 1,559 square feet to 2,416 square feet. Officine Générale, Private White, Cerruti, Shinola, Want Les Essentiels, Northskull and London Undercover will join existing labels such as Derek Rose, Zimmerli, Hanro, Sunspel, Homebody, Pantherella, Harrods of London, Falke, Calvin Klein, Versace and Daniel Hanson.
In addition, the space will house shop-in shop spaces that will carry Turnbull & Asser and Eton Shirts. The retailer will also mount its first made-to-measure lounge for shirts and a personalization station. The space features marble and brass furnishings, with a gallerylike showcase.
“The launch of our redeveloped Socks, Underwear and Nightwear department marks an exciting development in our ongoing focus on menswear at Harrods,” said Helen David, the retailer’s chief merchant. “SUN opens alongside Designer Collections, and a new accessories department, all of which have been thoughtfully curated and laid out with the shopping needs and habits of our male customer.
“The new department will offer customers the choice of heritage British brands such as Gieves & Hawkes and Hardy Amies, alongside Italian brands…such as Corneliani and Canali. In addition, an area dedicated to shirting featuring brands including Turnbull & Asser and Eton has been incorporated.
“Made-to-measure is an offering that is essential in any men’s wear department,” David said of the new lounge.
The socks, underwear and nightwear department first launched at the retailer in the 1890s.
