Robert Talbott will open its first in-store shop on the East Coast on Oct. 8 at M. Dumas & Sons in Charleston, S.C. This will be the Monterey, Calif.-based brand’s fifth shop to open since kicking off the initiative in April of last year.
M. Dumas, located at 249 King Street, has been a staple in Charleston since 1917 and recently completed a $2 million renovation, which included the installation of the 300-square-foot Talbott shop. The boutique is designed to reflect the lifestyle of the Monterey Peninsula and includes imagery and materials from the California coastline. It will offer sportswear, tailored clothing, dress shirts and neckwear.
“We are very pleased to partner with M. Dumas & Sons, who shares a long heritage of quality products and exemplary customer service. They have been extraordinary customers, and we are very proud to announce our formal relationship as they continue to be an excellent representation of the brand in the southeast region,” said Bobby Corliss, senior vice president of sales for Robert Talbott, Inc. “We look forward to sharing our comprehensive collection and a bit of the West Coast lifestyle with Charleston’s residents and visitors for years to come.”
“We realize how much the store is synonymous with King Street and believed that it was important to focus on restoring our beautiful, historic building rather than looking for a new home outside of the Peninsula,” said David Dumas, chief executive officer of M. Dumas & Sons. “Just as previous generations have found our doors open and welcoming, we wanted to make sure that today’s generation of customers also find that to be true.”
To celebrate the launch, the companies will host a cocktail reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the store. The other retailers to offer in-store Talbott shops include Carroll & Co. in Beverly Hills; Avant for Men in Highland Park, Ill.; the Ascot Shop in La Jolla, Calif., and The Hound Clothiers in San Francisco.
