A look from one of Equinox’s performance brands.

MRket has linked with Equinox on a new activewear and performance section that will make its debut at its January show in New York.

Called Move, the section will be housed within Vanguard Gallery, the area for emerging and progressive brands.

“Move is a response to a cultural shift: men are dressing for a more active lifestyle,” said Lizette Chin, vice president of men’s wear for BJI Fashion Group, which owns the MRket show. “Men’s wear retailers are shifting assortments as health and wellness becomes the new luxury.”

The brands offered within Move will include Rhone, Athletic Recon, EFM (Engineered for Motion), Mizzen + Main, Eysom and Masterclass. The section will be anchored by Equinox, which will install a collaborative pop-up to host fitness-inspired demonstrations. The company operates 75 fitness clubs around the country.

“Men’s trends have shifted quickly toward athletic tailoring; MRket, and the concept of Move helps make this shift for men faster and more possible,” said Frank Rappa, senior director of retail for Equinox.

In addition, MRket will redesign its shows in New York and Las Vegas next year with an airier floor plan featuring steel fixtures, white space, charcoal carpet and blood wood accents.
