Robert Talbott Inc. is adding to its retail presence.

The Monterey, Calif.-based brand that built its 66-year business on the strength of its men’s dress shirts and neckwear, will open a store at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta in October, followed by a freestanding store on Madison Avenue and 53rd Street in New York in November. Robert Talbott operates stores in Carmel and Pebble Beach, Calif., and Dallas.

The Atlanta store will be 939 square feet, while the New York City unit will measure 1,833 square feet.

“Robert Talbott is positioned for growth, and these new stores allow us to present our ‘never-ending story,’ in a very tangible way,” said Bob Corliss, chief executive officer. “We’re building on enduring quality and lasting values, while presenting a complete lifestyle collection. Whether a man is dressing for work, leisure, or a formal affair, we offer a total look that he can put on and feel confident, comfortable and stylish.”

The stores will be designed to reference the brand’s history on the Monterey Peninsula and will include updated versions of reclaimed barn wood offset with clean, modern, white surfaces, bronze metallics and men’s wear fabrics. Designed by O’Neil Langan Architects of New York, the lighting fixtures and furniture will be in a midcentury modern style, intended to speak to Robert Talbott’s 1950 founding date.

Robert and Audrey Talbott and their son Robb left the East Coast in 1950 and moved to Carmel where they started a business based on Audrey Talbott’s skill making handcrafted silk neckwear. Since that time, the company expanded into men’s furnishings, knitwear, sportswear, leathers and women’s wear. Robert Talbott died in 1986 and Audrey ran the business until her death in 2004, when it was passed to Robb Talbott. Corliss came on board as ceo in 2011.
