Off-White and Vilebrequin will launch their first collaboration collection of swimwear just in time for Father’s Day.
The five-piece, co-branded capsule is comprised of white and black swim shorts with “OFF” on each leg and the Off-White arrow logo on the rear. There is a similar style in yellow sans arrow logo, floral pattern shorts, and Off-White’s signature slant block stripes on swim trunks.
“I love authentic brands that make products best in category,” Off-White designer Virgil Abloh told WWD. “It was a great backdrop to apply the sensibilities of Off-White when it came to swimwear. In order to make the best product, I knew I had to partner with a swimwear icon — this is when me and Vilebrequin came together.”
This is not Off-White’s first foray into swimwear. The label dropped a swim collection for its Mykonos store that first opened in 2018 and reopened in April 2019. This collaboration, however, comes just days after the opening of the Figures of Speech exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago that chronicles 20 years of Abloh’s work, including designs for Off-White, Pyrex Vision, Ikea and Nike, among others.
Vilebrequin is no stranger to collaboration, having partnered with the likes of designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac this year, as well as artist Alex Israel, The Webster, the Rolling Stones and Karl Lagerfeld in the past.
