Tommy Bahama has a new head of men’s design team.

The Seattle-based sportswear label has named Dawn Brandl senior vice president of men’s design. She will be based at the company’s headquarters in the Pacific Northwest and will report to Bradley O’Brien, executive vice president of design and product development for the company. The appointment is effective immediately.

“Dawn is a seasoned men’s wear expert with a rich background of working with many diverse brands,” O’Brien said. “She has a terrific sense of our brand heritage and what the future holds for Tommy Bahama.”

In this role, Brandl will be responsible for all design and product development for the Tommy Bahama men’s collection.

Brandl pointed to the company’s “extremely loyal” customer base as a key reason she wanted to join the brand. “I was immediately drawn to the Tommy Bahama brand for its authentic DNA that stands out in today’s crowded retail marketplace. The brand message is uniquely positive and clear — it’s about making life one long weekend.”

Brandl has over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry. Most recently, she was creative director and vice president of men’s and women’s design at Sperry Topsider Apparel. Before that, she was senior creative director for Converse One Star. She has also been vice president of men’s designer for Polo Ralph Lauren, design director for men’s for Tommy Hilfiger men’s designer for American Eagle Outfitters.
