On the eve of the Masters Tournament later this week, Vineyard Vines has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with PGA Tour Pro Russell Knox to serve as his official apparel provider. Knox, the winner of the 2015 WGC HSBC Champions, joins PGA Tour Pro Jason Dufner as the company’s second sponsored golfer, both of whom will be playing at the Masters.
Knox will wear the brand’s signature pink whale logo on his right sleeve and right back pants pocket during the tournament.
“We love Russell’s story,” said Ian Murray, Vineyard Vines’ cochief executive officer and cofounder. “We can relate to his perseverance and drive to achieve his goals. We share a sense of entrepreneurship; we both worked our tails off to be able to make a living doing what we love.”
His brother Shep Murray, co-ceo and co-founder, added: “This partnership with Russell, as well as our work with America’s Cup sailing, is beginning to bring our brand visibility on the international stage. That’s an incredibly exciting next step for us as we continue to grow.”
Knox said that he is a fan of the apparel as well as the company’s “commitment to having fun and giving back.”
Knox has risen from 328 to 34 in the Official World Golf Ranking in less than three seasons. He currently is fifth in the FedEx Cup standings and 34th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
