For pre-fall, in addition to his unique, trademark patterns — with original colors, selected with precision, as always — Christian Wijnants drew up some chunky, boiled wool sweaters in a pale, blue-tinged sherbet green. He used a lightweight, futuristic-looking silver fabric for a trenchcoat as well as dressy trousers, cinched at the bottom. Continuing his focus on tailoring, his suits — which are starting to turn up at red carpet-caliber events — were roomy. In the “new inventions” department, he wove a dress out of strips of curled jersey material, adding texture.
WWD Critique: Ever inventive, the designer continues to build depth into his offer with handsome results.
