Inspired by bridal magazine covers from the Fifties and Sixties and his childhood memories of his mother designing dresses in her Venezuelan atelier, Angel Sanchez showed a retro-minded collection that, with its bold architectural cuts, still had a modern feel. Intricate lace, beautiful matte floral embroideries and a playful point d’esprit had a vintage air, as did the sweet A-line shapes and sexy mermaid silhouettes. As for the architectural details, an embroidered panel came down the front of a column gown, triangular cutouts were shown on the back of a jacquard dress and the long skirt of a simple gown could be detached, turning the look into a cocktail dress.
