For her spring bridal collection, Vera Wang chose to present a short film rather than runway show. Shot just a few days ago in and outside an old mansion on Long Island, the dreamy — and a bit eery — video features four models wandering in the woods and lounging inside, at times strewn in burnt rose petals.
The gowns, which WWD previewed in the designer’s showroom, are classic Wang at her best. She said she was inspired by the “lightness of being, delicate and discipline, sensual and seductive.” The fabrics were worked in light layers of tulle and lace, with silhouettes ranging from minimal, chic columns to more intricate princess and mermaid styles. A new shape was a delicate lace shirtdress that looked modern and fresh in its simplicity. A high-low number, though, was the real showstopper. It featured a lace strapless bustier and cascaded into layers of frothy tulle.
